According to a report published in the journal PLOS Medicine, a lack of strong relationships increases the risk of premature death from all causes by 50% — an effect comparable to smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day! Moreover, a study from Brigham Young University found that both social isolation and loneliness are associated with a higher risk of mortality. These findings suggest that the quality and quantity of social connections in our lives significantly impact our longevity and overall health.
